Yazoo Valley Electric Power Association continually undertakes an aggressive right-of-way program for the purpose of eliminating the growth of trees and brush around power lines. This clearance program is necessary for supplying reliable service to our members. In a concerted effort to ensure reliable service, Yazoo Valley EPA is trimming the rights-of-way to the original specifications within the easements.
There are many reasons why it is important to have clearance for our power lines. In the event of an outage, the rights-of-way make the power lines easily accessible to our service crews. This allows the crews to quickly and efficiently restore power. Most importantly, having clear rights-of-way can help prevent an outage altogether. Tree limbs, brush, and kudzu are often causes of outages or blinking lights. Yazoo Valley EPA concentrates on clearing any possible outage causes before a problem arises.
Yazoo Valley EPA right-of-way crews are trained to safely and efficiently apply herbicides. The herbicides used effectively control right-of-way growth, and they are environmentally friendly. In areas where herbicide application is not appropriate, the clearing is done by hand. This work can become tedious and difficult at times.
Yazoo Valley EPA personnel will be working on the rights-of-way to provide reliable service for our members. These crewmembers wear Yazoo Valley EPA uniforms and will be driving vehicles clearly marked with Yazoo Valley EPA logos. Deviney is also employed by Yazoo Valley EPA as a contract right-of-way crew. You will recognize the Deviney personnel by their uniforms and the logos on their vehicles as well. Our right-of-way crews have a difficult job. Member support is necessary for implementing this aggressive right-of-way program. Our right-of-way crews have a much easier job because of the cooperation that is evident from our members. Yazoo Valley EPA greatly appreciates the candid support we receive from our members.
